The shape of the day
A week is where the Delta starts to feel like a region rather than a series of day trips. We slow down in Hangzhou, follow the canal to Shaoxing, finish on the coast in Ningbo, and keep enough free time that the trip does not become a job.

Step by step
Days 1–2 · Shanghai
Arrival, the Bund and the old city, then a second day in the French Concession or on a subject you care about — architecture, food, museums, shopping.
Day 3 · Suzhou
A garden, a canal quarter and a silk workshop on the way to Hangzhou. Two nights at the lake.
Day 4 · Hangzhou
West Lake early, Lingyin Temple, a tea village and a slow afternoon. This is the day to leave unscheduled if you want one.
Day 5 · Shaoxing
The canal city of yellow wine and writers: a water-town lane, a wine cellar and a slower lunch. Overnight in Shaoxing.
Days 6–7 · Ningbo
The coast, the old port and the Tianyi Pavilion library, with a factory or a seafood lunch depending on your interest. Return to Shanghai on day seven for the airport.

- Seven days covers five bases with two hotel changes after Shanghai — enough movement without packing every day.
- Ningbo can be swapped for Wuhu or Nantong if your trip has a business purpose.
- We keep one day flexible; the guide adjusts it to weather and energy.
